Ingredients
- 1 kg fish (like rehu/katla) cut into thick pieces
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 1 medium size onion paste
- 2-3 green chillis
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 red chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- mustard oil
- salt to taste
- sugar to taste
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 cloves
- 3-4 cardamom
- cilantro for garnishing
- Take the slices of fish and wash them nicely . Marinate them with 1 tablespoon salt and 1 teaspoon turmeric powder for 10 minute.
- Heat the oil in a pan,add fish and lightly fry for golden .
- In the same remaining oil add bay leaves,cloves,cardamom,onion,green chillis,salt and cook it for 2 minutes .
- Add ginger ,garlic paste,red chilli powder,turmeric ,sugar and cook for few minute.
- Add little amount of water in yogurt to smooth it and mix it well, then,slowly add this yogurt to the pan,stirring continuously .
- Cook until the oil separate from the mixture.
- Add the fish gently and cook for 2 minute.
- Add water and mix it well,cover and cook in low flame for about 10 minute .
- After 10 minute uncover and cook for another 5-8 minute until the gravy become thick.
- turn off the heat .
- Serve with steamed rice.
